We all love music and want to express music at different levels that is either by performing for an audience, or by playing for our own passion, or by simply listening to music and enjoying its bliss. Being a universal language and paving the path for liberation, Music is the master of our 5th sense (auditory), and hence the nearest one to the 6th sense which makes it the eternal element to balance all the senses.
If music is life, violin is the soul of it. Violin is the most admired string instrument having the sounds so similar to the human voice. It is also called a "blind instrument" that needs high precision to play. Playing the Violin has life long benefits right from giving you a sense of satisfaction, confidence, peace to connecting you to the eternal. Apart from this, it also improves one's cognitive skills, motor skills, memory, attention span, etc.
Music is the yoga for all the senses and practising it through Carnatic violin becomes yoga for the body too.
Philosophy
"Sruthi mata, Layam pita". A very enlightening phrase said by our ancestors,. (Sruthi -melody , Layam -taalam, mata- mother and pita- father.)
Music happens with the unison of Sruthi and Taalam. It's very beautiful to picturise how Sruthi takes its form in the structure or frame of Taalam...
Layam is the first step to understanding music and realizing Sruthi.
